Glamuptials: Our details

Previous Glamuptial posts:
* * * * * *
I love detail shots and knew I had to have some of those in my wedding pictures. Since I worked hard DIYing some elements of my attire, I wanted to make sure I had pictures to remember forever all the hard work and crazy hours I spent. When the photographer arrived I asked him if he could take pictures of our details and he did just that.

I absolutely adore these pictures of my wedding dress. Its simply stunning. How I wish I could wear it all day long. Seriously ... lol

These details were for Mr.Flamingo and his first love - Superman. I wanted to have something extra special for him and my DIY Superman Garter definitely caught everyone's attention. His Cufflinks were perfect and cute, I must admit.

Super Garter

**** Mr. Flamingo you cannot read this post****** Stop reading NOW!*****

Ever since I started planning my wedding there was one thing for sure I was going to do for my new-husband-to-be. I wanted to make him a custom garter... you know one to his liking. I've mentioned before that Mr.Flamingo is a superman freak. He's got everything from vintage comic books to statuettes, but one thing he doesn't have is a superman garter. Obviously its not something very common, and I wanted to make one for him. Its more meaningful ... I think.

I wanted to incorporate a superman logo in the garter somewhere but could not find any logos small enough. I thought of using a patch or even a bracelet charm, but everything was too expensive and not to my liking. Then it hit me, CROCS charms. I went to shoe stores in my area in search of the superman logo but there were none in sight. So I decided to check on ebay. Luckily ebayer namesrus was selling one. I made an offer and won it for 1.00$ plus 1.95$ shipping. Pretty good I think.

via Ebay

Now this is a surprise and he won't know it until its time to go under my dress. I even asked the DJ to cue the superman theme song when hes going to get it. Its going to be so funny.

Basically the superman logo/colors consist of blue, red and yellow. Since the emblem is red and yellow and I wanted something blue, I used red and blue satin ribbon. It was very easy to make and the CROCS charm was perfect.

Here is my super garter:

Me too I want two

When I found my wedding dress I got a matching classic elbow length veil with a champagne satin edge. (Sorry no pics) I wanted a veil because I wanted my dad to do the - lifting the veil and giving me kissing before I go ahead and get married. This veil was prefect for that but Since I ordered my dress over 1 year before my wedding date I knew I was bound to fall in love with a vintage looking birdcage veil.

I can't not wear my original veil (since my mother is the one who bought me my dress and veil) But I really liked the idea of being a Two Veil Bride like Miss Cookie. I contacted Sandra from Breeziway.com to see if she'd be able to make me a custom veil. I wanted something that would fit my taupe sash but didn't know if it was possible. I got an email back from her and YES she was able to make me something that matched. I sent her pictures of my dress, hairstyle and accessories and I got an email with the finished piece. I was so excited. She used taupe-y colored feathers and the outcome is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S.

Now because I wasn't sure what would be better with my hair style, she made the veil so that I could wear it either on the left or on the right. Isn't that the smartest thing ever !!! Here is my absolutely stunning Birdcage veil :

If worn on the right side:

If worn on the left side:

Now I have another dilemma, do I wear my birdcage veil for the getting ready pictures or should I go with the original one. Maybe the birdcage one could be my "I'm a Wife now" veil and switch it when Mr.Flamingo and I take pictures as a married couple. What do you think?

Tush attire - sexy sexy sexy

I've been thinking about my wedding undergarments for some time now. I would of loved to have a beautiful kit like the ones below, but it would be easier and better letting the ladies free.

I still wanted to have a sexy panties at least, and nothing says vintage sexy than ruffles and....ruffles. Now, I don't know whether its because its not "instyle" or simply because they are sold out, but I had a hard time finding some ruffles for my tush. Lets say they were non-existant in every lingerie store I went in.

I was looking for something along these lines: (not as dramatic though)

I really love the black satin underwear, so sexy. But unfortunately they are out of my price range. So after a day of pantie shopping, I finally found the one. (Well, it was the only one so I didn't really have a choice :)

I present you my tush attire:

Via: La Senza

Since majority of the time the garter attachments are straight on the corset and since I'm not wearing one, I needed panties with them and these Love La SenzaTM Glam Girl Garter Panty were perfect. I also love the fact that they are pink. I love pink...

So do you like? Is anyone else going for ruffles?

For a superhero

If Mr.Flamingo could fly and have all the superpowers like Superman... he would be the happiness man alive (ya - even happier than getting married to me - I'm serious :) ) His bond with superman is unbreakable... so I have to play Lois Lane once in a while. lol

Well, today is Mr.Flamingo's 30th birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY my sweetheart! Though he may feel old because hes no longer in the "twenties" he still young at heart. I thought for this special occasion I would share with you an image of him at his finest (hope he doesnt see this - hes going to kill me)

(Mr.Flamingo at only 6 months old - and already a superman fan)

Its certain that the wedding process could not go by without some superman element incorporated somewhere. Both him and his best man will have a pair of these official superman cuff links and I've never seen 2 grown up men this excited before. (doesn't take much - really)

I'm also planning on making him a superman garter (shhh don't say it too loud - its a surprise) and will most probably put the actual superman theme song when he goes to get it. It will be really funny and I'm pretty sure he will be happy.

Is your fiancé a superhero freak?
Will you be incorporating certain elements in your wedding.

I want a Comb, over there....

The time has come to really but I mean really figure out what I want to do with my hair. My appointment for my hair trial is next weekend and I have no idea what I want because I like so many styles. I am still debating on which type of hairstyle I should go for the wedding, though to be honest the vintage part is slightly winning the race.

Though in the vintage type hairstyles, some are not comb friendly, and that is something I must take into consideration. Yup, I purchased a beautiful hair comb which I guess in the heats of planning and blogging, slipped through my fingers and was forgotten. Here is my beautiful hair comb... purchased on ebay and was a mere 6$ shipping included. What a bargain!

Another thing I must consider is that I will have a veil. Okay... its a classic, but because I want a bun-ish type of hair-do, it limits the veil placement options. I tried wearing it under the bun (which personally I love) but it really doesn't suit me. So I need to wear it not on the top of my head, but more in the middle. (Please see illustration)

So now, I have continued my search for hair styles... I feel like I'm all over the place. I only have one chance at this cuz I'm only having one hair trial. Ok, sure if the results are really horrible, I will go for trial #2 but I'm trying to avoid it.

So here are some more hairstyles. I'm going for the vintage-y, bun type, place comb over there & leave room for the veil kind of style.

Which style do you like? Because I can't seem to make a decision. I like option # 3, I think its good for the veil and the comb. Just the vintage-y part us missing. I wondering if waves like in picture 12 would work. It might be too much. What do you think?

Ah! this is so frustrating. How I hate being indecisive!!!

Sash Bling - cuz the sash deserves it!!!

I started planning my wedding almost 2 years in advance, so it's only normal that I started buying stuff in advance. I pretty much have all my accessories down. It's too bad because last year I started making jewelry but I had already purchase my bridal jewelry. Oh well.

Every one asks me "Did you make your own necklace" then I say "No", "How come" then I have to explain. This happens every time. I love my jewelry, but if I wouldn't of been so early in my planning process I would of made it myself. Whats done is done. So instead I will make my bridal party their necklaces.

One accessory that I haven't purchased yet is my brooch. I wanted to tie my sash with a bling bling brooch but haven't found anything I liked. Then it hit me. Why not make my brooch. That is exactly what I did. So ladies... here is my DIY brooch. (with step by step instructions)

List of materials:
Cooper Wire (color of your choice)
Swarvoski beads (Small, Medium and one large piece)
Cutters
Pin (for backing of the brooch)
Round nose pliers (optional)

I purchased medium and small cone shaped swarvoski crystals in both greyish-taupe and clear color. I also purchased a galatic form which will be the center of the brooch.

Step 1:I prepared all my materials to be sure not to miss anything. Its really annoying when you have to go back and get something, or if you don't calculate your stuff correctly and you need to go back to the store.

Step 2: Using the copper wire, start making a base to your brooch. Its quite simple, simply pretend you are sewing. Make circular shapes and intertwine the wire in certain places as to ensure it is steady.

You should stop when you have a shape you like. It needs to be quite steady otherwise the weight of your stones might cause the brooch to bend. You should get something similar to the picture above.

Step 3: Now its time to incorporate the swarvoski beads. You do the same thing as when you were creating the nesting of the brooch. Simple loop and intertwine the wire but at the same time add beads to create a pretty shape.

Keep going until you have gone completely around the whole brooch. Verify that certain areas don't have huge gaps. No worries, this is error proof. If you are missing beads, simply go back and add more. Its a s simple as that.

Step 4: Now its time to add the back pin to the brooch. Using wire, simply "sew" it to the brooch using the base of the brooch. Go around several time to ensure it stays in place.

Voila! The brooch is done. Here is the final product. I must say I'm quite happy with it. Whats great is that if ever after the wedding, I don't want to keep it (I don't know why I wouldn't - but you never know) I can undo it and use the stone for a matching necklace and earring set. Recycle-cyle :)

Price breakdown:
Galactic Swarvoski stone = 6.75$
Medium sized Swarvoski stones : 4.90$ / dozen
Small sized Swarvoski stones : 1.85$ for 6
Cooper wire: 5.75$ huge roll (which I already had - for my other DIY projects)
Pin : 1.00$
-----------------
Total cost: 20.25 (in reality its about 18$)
Don't forget these are genuine Swarvoski Crystals. Its worth at least 60$

What do you think??? Is my brooch sash worthy?

Convertibile sandals...

Thanks to Wedding Tulle, I was introduced to Jane Rafter’s SLINKS. These beautiful handmade leather sandals is such an ingenious idea. Mixing beauty, creativeness and fashion. These sandals called SLINKS, are completely transformable with individually designed, interchangeable uppers. How great is that : 3 pairs of sandals in 1.

These beautiful creations retail at 120$ British Pounds. Talk about a great gift for your bridesmaid or even for the bride-to-be. Aren’t we lucky Christmas is just around the corner. =)

Has anyone found interesting gifts to give to their bridal party? I would love to hear them.... I'm overwhelmed with my lack of ideas, and I find it quite difficult to please everyone!

I heart purses

A while back I was reading Weddingbee and I came across a post about this particular purse. (sorry I don't remember which Bee wrote it) There always been this debate over having a handbag on your big day. I know that it's not necessary and the money could go to something better and more useful, but being an accessories junkie, I had to have one.

I heart purses and this one was so perfect.

I ordered it off ebay and it cost me 30$ shipping included. Its more than what I thought I would pay for, especially it being an ebay item. The quality is very nice and the gems aren't the cheap dollar store looking ones. So overall - its a good purchase. To top things off... my new favorite clutch matches perfectly with my peep toe grey satin shoes.

And you... are you an accessories junkie??? How much did you splurge on all the little extras?

À la Oscars

When it comes to jewelry, I go all out. I'm not the type of girl who likes the simple stuff... my friends call me Miss Glam! I was more excited about finding my jewelry than my actual dress. (could you believe it? and yes I actually bought my jewelry before I ordered my dress)

My dress is simple, therefore my accessories basically needed to be a WOW factor of my whole ensemble. The search wasn't very long... I found the perfect set. I love my jewelry so much... oh and that's another thing I wear in the house once in a while. It's an authentic Austrian crystal choker necklace with matching earrings.

Before I even looked at the price tag I knew I hadn't chosen the cheapest one. I have an eye for the real expensive stuff and this was no different. The set was priced at 149.99$. Expensive yes, but less than I thought. As I'm trying on the set, I noticed a 30% off sign. Don't we just love discounts like that??? To top things off my dad and my step-mother offered it.

I love love love my set, but the only dilemma I have is with the earrings... I'm afraid it might be too much bling bling. What do you think?

Did you have or are you planning on having extravagant jewelry?
