I love detail shots and knew I had to have some of those in my wedding pictures. Since I worked hard DIYing some elements of my attire, I wanted to make sure I had pictures to remember forever all the hard work and crazy hours I spent. When the photographer arrived I asked him if he could take pictures of our details and he did just that.

I absolutely adore these pictures of my wedding dress. Its simply stunning. How I wish I could wear it all day long. Seriously ... lol

These details were for Mr.Flamingo and his first love - Superman. I wanted to have something extra special for him and my DIY Superman Garter definitely caught everyone's attention. His Cufflinks were perfect and cute, I must admit.

Au Naturel

If there is one thing I am comfortable with is going bra less. I'm not afraid to say it, I like my boobs and letting them free once in a while has never hurt anyone.

When I tried on my dress I went au naturel... and it fit perfectly - little or no alterations to be done . I know its pretty to have the matchy matchy undergarments, but I will be much more comfortable with no bra.

Pretty dress for a pretty girl

Choosing our flowergirls' dress was not very complicated. Originally I wanted to have a mini version of my wedding dress because I find it extremely adorable even more so when your flower girl is 3 years old.

I happened to be shopping with mommy Flamingo and we found the most adorable dress. At first sight its not what I wanted. I didn't like all the details on it, but for 45$ taxes included (we have 14% taxes here in Quebec) I thought I could or should I say my mom could do some sewing here and there.

This is what I wanted to do to the dress.

• Remove the beading at the front of the dress
• Remove the flower and ribbon on the front of the dress
• Remove the big bow at the back (don't ask me why, but its white and the dress is ivory)

I wanted to add a sash the color of my dress so that she would look like almost a mini-me. Oh course there is no pick up skirt, but its no biggy... she will look so cute!
Here is the dress after the fabulous work from my mom. Unfortunately we couldn't remove the flower at the front of the dress, so we improvised a little.

I love that my mom has been so helpful in all the planning process. Its no nice to share all the little moments/details with her. It means alot to me.

Pretty boys

This weekend the boys are going to try on some suits for the wedding. Though there are some brides who like to have the surprise of seeing what their husband-to-be will be wearing the day of, I'm not that bride. Not that I don't trust Mr.Flamingo, but he's a joker and I could just imagine him arrive at the church in a pale blue suit with ruffles. (Ok maybe I'm exaggerating - but you get the point)

I'll be going with them for the trial and I will bring a camera for the main event. Mr.F in a suit... you rarely see that... and he looks so good. At first I wanted to have them wearing the real tux with the bow tie. Seem so perfect for our vintage/movie/ glam theme, but Mr.F says there is no way he will wear that. What a bummer.

The perfect example of the possibility of the hotness factor.

So we have no choice but to go for the other route. The tie route. I have nothing against ties... I find them really pretty but the bow tie would of been perfect. Since the girls will be wearing brown/taupe I thought having the best man in brown could be a very nice choice. For the ring bearer I thought it would be cute if he could be be a mini version of Mr.F. Honestly, I don't even know if all these options are available... so I will need to make a part 2 of the Pretty Boys

Am I going overboard with the whole matchy matchy? Are you planning on making your boys match your girls? Any suggestions to convince Mr.F to go the bow tie route?

It fits... really!

Mr.Flamingo has always been honest. That is something I truley love about him, because when I go ahead and ask him a question, he doesn't need to sugar coat it. He is very respectful and I love him for that, though sometime he says things that need to be filtered. (but no one is perfect - right? )

Before we started "changing our eating habits" Mr.Flamingo said something to me. Something that made me sad. To put you in the context of the story... here's a background on the whole situtation.

I purchased my wedding dress early. Exactly, 1 year and 3 months before my wedding. I fell in love with it and needed to buy it. Of course when I purchased it I was at about 175 lbs, and I unfortunately gained some weight afterwards. Nothing alarming and I knew I would still fit in my dress... so the first thing I did when I received my dress (In July 2007) I went to try it on, just to confirm. (And it fit - hurray)

Months passed and a week before it was time to go pick up my dress Mr.F said "Are you sure you still fit in your dress???" I mean, I know his intentions weren't to hurt my feelings but still, this comment made me sad. I told him how I felt and he was extremely sorry. I forgive you... just don't do it again =)

Everything is under control

After my panic attack about the whole bridesmaid dress issue, I would like to reassure everyone, that everything worked out fine. Phew!!! I really was stressing that whole weekend before our dress shopping day. I mean I had every single negative thought go through my head.

We started off by going to eat breakfast together as a family. This included my sisters (all three of them) and my step-mother. My MOH (cousin) wasn't able to make it, but that wasn't really an issue, since she a size 0 and everything seems to look good on her. We arrived at Bridalane (same place where I bought my wedding dress) to model away...

Here are some dresses my sisters tried on - (that we didn't choose)

with my own dress so we abandoned the idea.

Then, after trying on practically every dress available, the salesperson (a guy) that was with us suggested a dress. I mean looking at it on the hanger I was like "No way! This looks horrible" but we had nothing to lose and my sister tried it on. She came out and I was impressed. It was so elegant and glamorous, we had to go with that one. Everyone agreed and so we purchased the dresses. Though they were a good 225$ each, its basically the price to pay when your last minute like that.

Alright heres the final choice:

Front (obviously)

Bottom (we will add a layer of the stone color found in my sash )

Back (it has a mini-train)

Hopefully the dresses will come in before the June 1st mark. Otherwise that will be another stress I really don't need to have. So what do you think? Is it a good choice ? (please note, even if you say no - its too late. lol)

This is a dream right? Somebody pinch me

Last year I think it was July, Mommy Flamingo called my cellphone a good three times before I actually picked up. She said she had found the perfect dresses for my bridesmaids. At this point I hadn't even seen them... but judging my moms' sense of knowing her own daughter, she went ahead and bought the dress in sizes 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 ... I'm not kidding you. She wanted to make sure that they would fit.

The reason why she was really really insisting on these dresses (again I had not seem them) was because they were extremely inexpensive! 65$ taxes in /each. Which is awesome, might I add. When she came home, I immediately went upstairs to see this so called dress. I found them really cute. Not what I had wanted originally... but cute.

They're chocolate brown and ivory (not the colors shown in the picture) and they fit my list of criteria - tea length dress, strapless and vintage looking (sort of). The girls (4) tried them on and they looked good on everyone. For security reasons we had taken the dresses one size bigger in case that someone gained weight from July to June. I mean we were extremely cautious.

2 months ago I had asked my eldest sister to try on the dress since she had gained some weight and muscles (shes working out twice a week). She said she didn't feel like it... so it slipped my mind. Wednesday, which just passed, while having my weekly family supper at my dad's house (remember my parents are separated) I asked my sisters to try on the dresses because I wanted to take pics and blog about them.

All of a sudden I heard "Uh oh" that was definitely not a good sign. The dress doesn't fit! Its too tight. Guess who it was... my eldest sister who two months ago didnt 'feel' like trying it on. I knew this would happen.... oh my!

Only 4 months till my wedding and I'm having all these thoughts going through my mind. We can't go to the seamstress and figure something out because it really really doesn't fit. We can't go back to the store to get a bigger size, because they no longer make that model. And if we return them, I don't even know if I will get reimbursed!!!

So being a calm bride (but still freakin' out inside) I decide to call the bridal store where I purchased my dress. I asked them how much time it took to order bridesmaid dresses ... he said if I were to order them next week they would arrive June 1st. That doesn't give much time if they are delayed or if they need alterations. My wedding is June 21st... ok I'm officially freakin out!!!

At the same time, someone had suggested... "why not by the samples?" But I've always envisioned my wedding a specific way (all the girls dressed the same) and because of a technicality I won't have what I've always envisioned? No way... I'll be a bridezilla for this if I have too!!!

So Monday we were suppose to have a spa day amongst us sisters and my step-mother but instead were going dress shopping. Basically it comes down to Monday. We have to find something! Somebody please re-assure me.

Anyone else have last minute adjustments? Have you ever had something happen that totally threw they whole planning in the hole?

Here it is....

After my numerous posts about my wedding accessories, I think that the anticipation built up is at its maximum. Unlike many brides-to-be my wedding dress shopping was quite easy.... and honestly I couldn't be more happy.

Planning way in advance obviously had its quirks when it came to dress shopping. The first place I visited with my mom was a very small boutique. There were some nice dresses, but nothing that gave me the butterflies everyone was telling me about. I wanted to fall in love with my dress, and that didn't happen. I didn't waste more time... even though I could of tried on endless amounts of dresses. There's something magical when you have a wedding dress on... too bad we only wear it one day!

Next place I visited was referred by my sisters friend. I was a bit sceptical after all the references which ended up being vendorzilla stories. I didn't lose hope though and called. This time around I went with my cousin who happens to be my MOH. When we arrived we were greeted with such kindness, this was a good sign. We looked around the first dress I tried was the one. It fit perfectly the color was gorgeous... oh and not to mention that I had butterflies.

I knew this dress had to be expensive... I have expensive taste. The salesperson replied : 650$ taxes included. Did I hear clearly??? Yes yes, 650$ taxes included. Wow... I was impressed with myself. To top things off, if I ordered my dress before the end of the month (which was march 2007) I got a 100$ off. Now that's what I'm talking about. Rewarding those who plan ahead. So I basically got my dress, veil, garter, shale, sash, and extra straps for 690$ taxes in. Talk about an awesome price....even better when your mom says she is offering it to you as a gift!

Many of yous have mentioned that you dislike pick-up dresses... I recall someone saying they are so 'Davids Bridal' ...whatever that means... but luckily for me, we don't have David's Bridal here in Canada. ;) Honestly, your wedding dress all about you, and if its perfect for you then its all that counts. So I would like to say...I am a proud pick-up dress bride-to-be. =)

My wedding dress is champagne, the color is stunning and once the lights dimmed my dress shimmers. Romantic and not to mention glamorous. You might be wondering whats up with all the taupe-grayish accessories...well that's because I will add a sash to my dress - yup a taupe sash.

So what do you think? Honest input please...

Peep toe

Before I even start talking spilling the beans about my dress, I thought I would build up the anticipation by giving you details about all the other stuff. To start off, lets talk about shoes. I am a fan of them, well honestly who isn't?

My criteria for my shoes were the following: I wanted a peep toe satin heel shoe. For the rest, well I debated lots on whether I should get a colored shoe, a low or high heel. What it came down to it, was I getting a shoe for the beauty rather than comfort?... well, ladies and gentlemen, I went for beauty. I will probably take them off half way though the reception, but what a wedding if you don't dance bare foot... right?

These are my gorgeous shoes! I absolutely love them. I even try them on once a week and walk around the house with them... isn't that pathetic ??? I found them at ZARA. for 79$ Canadian. Even though they make my feet extra pretty, I felt they were missing a little Glamour to them, so I bought off eBay some rhinestone shoe clips. So are my shoes vintage enough???
